About Us & FAQ
Why OMG Foods? It became necessary to discover new ways to cook foods after I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, which became extremely severe a couple of times. I found myself in the emergency room because I ate food that was destroying my digestive system. Every time I consumed an item that contained the smallest traces of gluten, I would suffer tremendously. Finding a “quick meal” for me was never a possibility. Many times, after an infusion, the very last thing I wanted to think about was, “What am I going to make my husband for dinner tonight?”…not to mention whether I could eat the meal because of my extreme gluten sensitivity.
As I learned how to feed my body better and tested many recipes on family and friends, it became obvious that my UC is an extremely common problem with an overwhelming number of people who are looking for a source of obtaining gluten free foods and healthier, fresher dietary choices.
Hence, OMG Foods became an idea, so we obtained all building permits and health department permits required and got to work. My husband built the most beautiful commercial kitchen in which I can cook meals for people who need consideration taken regarding the ingredients in their food.
Our intention is to be able to freshly prepare and flash freeze orders that you place. Please understand, we are not trying to be a fast food franchise. What is Gluten?Open or Close
Gluten is a protein composite found in several types of grains, including wheat, spelt, rye and barley. Gluten consists of two proteins… gliadin and glutenin. It is the gliadin part that people react negatively to. When flour is mixed with water, gluten forms a sticky cross-linked network of proteins, giving elastic properties to dough and allowing bread to rise when baked.
Are these gluten free and/or lactose reduced meal options expensive?Open or Close
Our gluten free foods are extremely affordable, as we don't want to exclude clientele who really need this option but can't afford to purchase the meals. We have plans of offering "Jerky of the Month" club. We want customer interaction capabilities, so that they can tell me what they want (if it isn't currently on the menu) and we determine if adding that is an option that I can offer.
